I mistakenly bought a SATA DVD burner drive (SAMSUNG/SH-S203N). I wanted a regular PATA (?) burner. Oh well - Luckily my MACHSPEED K8M8MS mobo supports SATA. And equally luckily, my PSU has a power connecter that seems to be specifically for SATA. It connects to the drive nicely. Not know anything about SATA,

DVD+R has Sony and Philips behind it (along with Compaq, HP, Yamaha, and Ricoh, among others). There's also DVD-RAM, which is purely a data format. I don't think that one is going to stay with us. So I'd really like to get a DVD burner, but I really don't want to buy the "wrong" one. DVD+R seems to have the edge

They may not care about making them compatible with whatever 2nd or 3rd tier maker DVD burner disc is out there, but definitely against one of the very best brands used today.
